The Single Most Important Ingredient For Your Success This Year!

By Tim Moore

This time each year most business owners and successful salespeople I know are discussing their plans and goals for the year.  Among these, the most successful want to be held accountable and take time to seek out a trusted peer, a business coach, or a sales trainer to help advise, critique and hold their feet to the fire when their excitement and motivation wanes.

Among the many things I have noticed that every successful business person has in common with other like-minded individuals are the questions they have explored and answers they have uncovered about what activities they should engage in and where to focus their resources for the next 12 months.

Here are some of the most important areas you should consider when planning:

• Are you focused on the right market(s) for you in the coming year?
• Do you have a marketing plan to gain visibility and be known for what you do best?
• Is your marketing budget the right size to ensure you can do what you want to do?
• Are you working under an effective pricing strategy that will deliver profitability?
• Have you developed a sales plan for you (and your team) to maintain accountability?
• Is your sales incentive and compensation system one that makes sense for you?

While many salespeople and business owners were trained in the fundamentals of building a plan and know how to examine, prepare, and put into action a well thought out sales and marketing plan, sometimes they forget the most important ingredient for success; having a daily positive attitude.

“Your attitude is critical in determining whether you succeed or fail.”

While attitude is not the end-all, it is your attitude that provides the passion and the tenacity that gives one the incentive to learn, change, and apply.

I recently saw this quote from James Malinchak,

“Your attitude is the foundation of the ideas that are formed in your mind. Your mind is like a computer. It accepts anything you focus on. What you focus on is what you become and achieve. Don’t make negative statements or think negative thoughts because your mind will store them (just like a computer), and never forget them. If you continue to store negative thoughts in your mind, you will eventually become a negative, non-achieving person. It may not be today, tomorrow, or next week. But be assured that one day it will happen to you. Begin right here, right now to make only positive statements and to think only positive thoughts. To get the results you desire in life, change your thoughts.”

What you focus on you will achieve, because thoughts are transferred into actions and actions are transformed into results. If you change the way you THINK, then you can accomplish anything!

Talent, tenacity and passion … all of it without a positive attitude is nothing.
