It’s hard to believe that the fourth quarter is here. Are you where you want to be? Depending on your business and what you’ve accomplished so far, the fourth quarter can be a bumpy ride or smooth sailing. Regardless, here’s how to have a winning home stretch.
For most businesses, the fourth quarter is usually not business as usual. Instead, it’s either a busy time of year or a slow time of year depending on how the holidays, fall and other seasonal variables impact your sales. That said, it’s time to do a quick assessment of how to maximize the next 90 days.
Take some time to honestly answer the following 10 questions:
1. Are my goals for the coming quarter realistic? If the answer is no, how can I adjust my goals to be realistic?
2. What is the most important activity that I must complete to hit my goals?
3. What obstacles will get in my way of accomplishing my goals?
4. What are possible solutions to my obstacles and which ones can I implement immediately?
5. What do I have to do differently?
6. How will I stay focused on the right activities?
7. What will my reward be if I hit my goals? Is it something that is meaningful and important to me?
8. What negative consequences will occur if I don’t hit my goals? Does it matter to me?
9. How do I need to adjust my schedule to accommodate the holidays or other seasonal factors?
10. Who can I get to assist me in reaching my fourth quarter goals?
Based on your answers to the above questions, determine a course of action and a way to stay disciplined and focused each and every day. Take it one day at a time and do the things that really matter.
