No, I’m not talking about dream analysis and what your nocturnal movies reveal about your inner psyche. While interesting, that’s just a little too esoteric for me. What I’m asking is what’s important to you? Do you have dreams or aspirations? What do you want to have, be or do in the next six months, the next year, or the next decade?
People that can tap into the power of their dreams actually increase the likelihood of realizing them. Let’s look at what you can do to make your dreams come true.
The first step is to actually record your dreams. A dream inventory or log is very simple. You just write down anything that you want to be, have or do on your dream sheets. For example, you may want to be a better salesperson, a more attentive spouse/partner, or 10 pounds lighter. You may want to have a new car, suit, or DVD player. You may want to skydive, vacation in Europe, or become an author.
You can have little dreams or huge dreams or anything in-between. The more dreams you write down, the better. So don’t make it a one-time event. Spend time in your Dream Inventory. Dig deep. Go beyond the first 25 or 50 dreams that come to mind immediately. Don’t dismiss dreams because they don’t seem important enough.
When you record your dreams, you should put the date of your entry as well, so you have a reference point in the future. And you should go back periodically to review your dreams. If you are diligent in recording your dreams, you’ll be amazed when you review them six months or a year from now.
One of three things is likely to happen when you review your dreams in your dream inventory. First, you will be surprised at how many of your dreams have been realized or are in the process of being realized. Just getting the power of your subconscious at work is enough to create some results. Second, with time you may realize that some of your previous dreams are no longer of interest or importance to you. You change, you grow…and so do your aspirations. It actually can be enlightening to see which of your dreams no longer matter to you. Third, you may find that you’re not making enough progress toward particular dreams. If the dream is important to you, you will want to take a more proactive position by creating a goal that will help you realize your dream.
